Description
My new Roman Comic strip.
The younger Cato gave his wife Marcia away to his friend Hortensius. This comic deals with possilbe reasons...
Cato is considered as having been an example of a stoic sage. When he comes home from the curia late, with a bad headache (politics aren't going too well for him), Marcia is longingly waiting for him.
Translation:
That's too much, even for a Stoic
Marcia: Welcome home, my husband!
-
Marcia: You should eat something.
-
Marcia: Look here, I washed your toga! It's really clean now, isn't it?
-
Marcia: Come on, laugh, dear husband! I'd like to see you happy!
Cato: I would be very happy if you could shut up and go away!
-
Marcia: What do you say? What did I do to you? Is it something wrong that I'd like to see my husband happy, my beloved, dear, sweet husband, the father of my children?!
-
The next day ...
Hortensius: Hello Marcus!
Cato: Hello Quintus!
Hortensius: How are you?
Cato: Well.
Hortensius: And your family?
Cato: You'd better not ask.
Hortensius: Why do you say so? Why such a grumpy face? Marcia is a wonderful wife. She washes your clothes with her own hand and brings food to you herself. She's always in a good temper. And she's fertile. She's the mother of three childre and pregnant again. If I had a wife like that, I'd be very happy!
-
Cato: Do you want to have her?
+++
Some details ...
Marcia is pregnant in this strip. There's a discussion if she was when Cato gave her away. I thought it would be interesting for this comic.
I'll check the Latin on monday ...
Marcia uses epic words when she's crying, so "sator" for "father" and "mellitus" for "sweet". Her lamentation is quite declamatory ...
Enjoy

Marcia ist eine 1-A Diva.
Das haut selbst den härtesten Stoiker um haha
Ich frage mich, wessen extra langweilige Rede er ertragen musste, um so zu reagieren…
Und Hortensius' Reaktion ist auch klasse.
